Camden Scism goes for a lay up

The Nemaha Central Thunder played against the Holton Wildcats on February 12th, 2024. For the eighth grade, Noah Hilbert tips the ball to start the game.

The Holton Wildcats got the ball first and scored.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 13 to 2 NC. At the end of the half, the Thunder was leading the Wildcats 28 to 12. When the third quarter was over the score was 34 to 16. NC ended up winning the game 45 to 21.

Camden Scism (8th grade) said, “We beat them by 20 points both times, and we played very well”

Noah Hibert jumped off to start the B-team game. Sadly Noah did not get the tip. The Thunder struggled to get the game started. After the first quarter, the score was 8 to 2 with Holton winning. At halftime, the score was 7 to 14. NC continued to struggle with the score at the end of the third quarter being 9 to 19.  The Thunder sadly ended up losing the game 13 to 25.

Meanwhile, in the secondary gym, the seventh-grade A-team started. Trent Stuke went up for the jump but the Holton Wildcats got it. The Thunder played their hardest and never gave up, leading them with the final score being 27 to 26 with them winning.

Tate Edelman (7th grade) said, “Even though we won, we could’ve done better”

The seventh-grade B-team was a close game. Neither team could hit their shots but the Thunder wouldn’t let the Wildcats score. The Wildcats also played well defensively but the Thunder still scored and they ended up winning 7 to 6.

Overall all of the teams played well and the Thunder ended up having a good night winning three out of their four games. The Thunder team has improved drastically since their last game against the Wildcats. They still have two games left to win the Big 7 League Championship.
